Thanksgiving in Cape Town

This November was a special one for our family. Earlier in the month, Joey traveled to Cape Town to help lead two church-planting and leadership trainings, investing in local believers and strengthening the work happening in the region. After the trainings wrapped up, the rest of the family flew down for some much-needed rest—and by “rest of the family,” we mean all of them. Even Kira was able to join us for the week, and it was incredible to be together again for the first time since she left last summer.

Our days were filled with reconnecting, meeting up with friends, hiking the trails around the Cape, surfing, and even cold-plunging into the 53°F Atlantic Ocean. When Thanksgiving arrived, we traded the traditional American feast for a thoroughly South African celebration: a braai stacked with meat and shared alongside our teammates. It was a different kind of Thanksgiving, but one full of joy, gratitude, and meaningful community.

We are so thankful for each of you who love us, pray for us, and support the ministry. Your partnership allows us to live, serve, and experience moments like this together—thank you.
