From March 28 to April 1, we hosted 31 leaders from Ethiopia, Uganda, Kenya, Burundi, Mozambique, and the USA for an East Africa Mid-Level training in our new NPL Training Center. We spent the bulk of the week focused on Abiding in Christ and being the types of disciple-makers that God uses for kingdom work. The schedule and the new venue allowed us all to spend a lot of quality time together building relationships and having fun. We even had a group of four local acrobats put on a show for us on the front lawn. After the show, three of the acrobats came to Christ.
As people left the training, there was a renewed sense of desiring a deeper walk with Christ. We are already hearing stories of how the trainees have gathered their own leaders and begun multiplying our training.
Immediately following the Mid-Level, we sent a team consisting of 2 South Sudanese, 1 Cuban, 3 Kenyans, and 2 Americans to begin training and engaging one of the largest refugee camps in Northern Kenya. Despite numerous logistical setbacks (a countrywide fuel shortage, harassment by the local authorities, and the like), the team trained multiple believers and engaged communities with the gospel.
It is going to be awesome to see what God does with these key East African leaders in the coming weeks, months, and years as they plan to collaborate and engage the remaining unreached people groups in the region.
