Calvary Team 2025: Crossing Cultures, Sharing Hope

This summer, we welcomed another incredible volunteer team from Calvary Baptist Church in Winston-Salem — and once again, they came with open hearts, willing hands, and a deep love for people.

It was a joy to reconnect with familiar faces and welcome new ones to our corner of Africa. Each team member brought something unique, and together we shared meaningful moments that left a lasting impact — on others, and on us.

Throughout the week, we engaged with people from all walks of life — Somali Muslims, Indian Hindus, secular locals, and seekers from various backgrounds. The team didn’t shy away from stepping into unfamiliar places. We visited a mosque and a Hindu temple, listening, learning, and building bridges of respect and understanding. These moments weren’t about confrontation — they were about compassion, connection, and planting seeds of truth.

One unexpected highlight came as we discovered a hidden pocket of 55 Afghani Muslim families, recently arrived in the city as refugees from the Taliban. Their presence here is sobering and significant — and this discovery is opening new doors for ministry that we didn’t even know existed. (More on that in a future post — it’s a story worth telling.)

In short, it was an incredible week. We laughed, prayed, explored, and had dozens of gospel conversations with people who may never have encountered Jesus otherwise.

To our friends at Calvary: thank you for coming, for caring, and for continuing to partner with us. Your faithfulness encourages us more than you know. You are part of what God is doing here — and it’s beautiful to watch it unfold.

Until next time — keep being bold, keep loving big, and keep pointing people to the

Light.
